About The Race Game

Momentum and precision are more decisive in The Race than sheer power. Your car automatically drives forward, but you have full control over steering and braking. This choice of design makes every turn, every jump, every landing a matter of timing and style.

High-grip iconic red tracks are conducive to controlled slides and early drift entries. Tracks are filled with loops, long jumps and razor-thin hairpins that necessitate smooth, assured driving. The feel of the physics is light and ‘floaty’, but still predictable enough for you to take full advantage once you’ve gained some skill.

Your rhythm can be shattered by a single error. A slightly late drift, a poor landing angle or a minor wall contact are enough to spoil a run that looked set to be really good. Luckily for us all, the frustrations are kept to a minimum with instant restarts, and the motivation remains high. Each attempt is an opportunity to experiment with lines, make your transitions smoother and take a couple of milliseconds off your time.

Driving Controls

It's easy to learn the controls, but it will take you some time to master them:

  • Left Arrow / A – Steer left
  • Right Arrow / D – Steer right

With nitro enabled, your car will temporarily increase its speed and you can also maintain drift stability by which you can keep drifting without using any additional input. Utilizing this momentum window is essential for good lap times.

How To Cut Down Your Time

The key to winning in The Race is Consistency and Awareness:

Corner Line Awareness

Stay close to the red track curveline. Clean lines in racing minimize the distance traveled and allow you to keep your speed around the corners.

Drift Timing

Begin a drift just before the corner entry. Drifting a little to soon or to late will make you over-slide and lose more speed than needed.

Wall Avoidance

Remain level on tight stretches. A simple bump, even a light one, can reset your run or break your momentum.

Restart Discipline

Don’t be afraid to restart after a clear error. Perfect runs are more important than completing imperfect ones.
