Wouldn't you love to travel around the world without even getting out of your house? This is now made possible with GeoGuessr, a thrilling browser game which turns the whole globe into a fun and exciting adventure. In this game, one gets to explore the world through solving puzzles using their geography skills. This fantastic game was developed in 2013 by three Swedish developers, namely Anton Wallén, Daniel Antell, and Erland Ranvinge.
GeoGuessr Explained
In GeoGuessr, players start in a random location provided via Google Maps Street View. The main objective of the game is for players to identify where in the world they are. Players get to study the landscape and use various elements to determine the exact location such as road signs, language spoken, architecture, and landscape features.
The closer one's answer is to the actual location, the more scores they get. A perfect guess in a round of GeoGuessr is rewarded with a maximum of 5,000 points.
How to Play GeoGuessr
GeoGuessr Reviewing the world map could be time-consuming but that is nothing compared to the amount of time you will want to spend on this game. Each round opens with a 360-degree panoramic shot of a secret world location somewhere on Earth. It is possible to travel along roads, turn the camera and zoom in to look for clues.
Some typical hints include:
- Languages on street signs
- Road signs, License plates and markings on the road
- Weather and plants
- Building architecture and design styles
- Famous monuments or regional icons
Now, once you think you have the location, you can drop a pin on the map. It then shows the right answer as well as scores your accuracy.
The game has a clean and easy to navigate interface. The compass can be used for directions as well as the Street View level, where you can fully immerse yourself in exploration. When you are ready to guess, the map in the corner of the screen can be enlarged.
